A Study on the Pain by lnitial Acrhwire Placement during Orthodontic Treatment

Abstract
|

|
The Author investigated 67 patients who was placed 3 types of initial archwire during orthodontic treatment for the purpose of determining the perception of pain over time. The questionnaires by a visual analogue scale were used in assessing the
level
of pain during 7 days after initial archwire placement.
@EN The following results were obtained
1. No significant difference in pain was found among the three types of initial archwire(P>0.05).
2. The level of pain was increasing significantly at 12 hours and 24 hours after initial archwire placement, but not at 7 days(p<0.01).
3. No significant difference was found in the level of pain of patients between more than 16 years of age and below 16 years of age(p>0.05).
4. The level of pain of females showed significantly higher than that of males(p<0.05).
5. The level of pain was higher in the ant. Portion of jaws than in the post. Portion of jaws, but almost of patients complained during the chewing.
